What's On (scarboroughopenairtheatre.com)
Scarborough has some of the best beaches in the country, with the perfect castle-building sand! There is a mixture of soft sand and tidal hard sand. Scarborough is home to some stunning rock pools, where at low tide you can explore and maybe find crabs, fish and even lobsters! But do make sure you know the tide times...
The North Bay is Scarborough's Blue Flag beach, meaning it is one of the best in Europe for cleanliness both on the sand and in the water, facilities and safety. Unlike South Bay, most of the North Bay Beach is away from the road, with the chalet-lined promenade running from 'the corner' to the Sealife Centre.
The South Bay is where you find all the amusement's arcades, donkey rides, crazy golf and some of the best Fish and Chip shops in the country.
The harbour dominates the front and from here you can get a boat trips for fishing or sight seeing up the coast to Whitby, keep an eye out for seals and whales.
Scarborough Castle is one of North Yorkshire’s finest historic sites. And one you can see from the end of Mayville Avenue
This once-mighty fortress has endured attacks from Vikings, medieval barons, Tudor rebels and a Parliamentary army during an epic Civil War siege.
You can explore the castle’s ruins, follow the long curtain wall with its many towers and climb viewing platforms in the Inner Bailey and the 12th-century Great Tower.
It’s the perfect place for a family-friendly adventure in the fresh air, get tickets from the National Trust Website below.
