BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE - North Yorkshire Cottage Holidays
Where Can I Park?
Using the scratch card parking ticket provided you can park anywhere on the road where 3C parking permit is allowed.
What is Car Parking Like Around Scarborough?
Parking is very busy in both bays during the day and would be best to leave the car at the house. After 6pm parking is free in all car parks (although do check the signs)
Can I Get a Train?
Yes. Scarborough Station is a 10-15 min walk to Mayville Avenue.
Scarborough is served by the Transpenne Express from York and takes around 40 Minutes.
Getting Around Without The Car
Walk down through Peasholm park and down to the seafront and from North Bay to South Bay a Open Top bus runs throughout the day, jump on and off all day.
You can walk to South Bay Beach in 20/25 mins from the house. The shops are around 15 minutes.
If you want a longer walk go around the head (we call it seagull rock) from North Bay to South Bay, this takes 30 mins. My advice is to get a Ice Cream from South Bay and walk towards North Bay, its seems shorter.
Buses run from Scarborough to Whitby the X93 and X94 will take you and onwards all the way to Middlesborough
The 843 Bus will take you all the way to Leeds
The X43 Bus takes you to York in 90 minutes although the train takes you into the heart of York and half the time.
Where Can I Charge My Electric Car?
Scarborough now has a good number of chargers that are fast(ish). The car park by Peasholm Park / Open air theatre has some and Lidl or McDonalds both of which are out of town.
Do I Need To Bring Towels?
Towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels.
Can I bring my Dog?
Well behaved dogs are welcome, You will find most pubs and shops are dog friendly.
Food and Take Aways Shops
There is a Aldi on Columbus Ravine going towards the railway station or a big Tesco next to the Railway Station. Sainsburys is the nearest big shop, again near the railway station. For bread and milk there is a Premier shop on Dean Road or One Stop near Peasholm Park again on Columbus Ravine.
But there are so many places to eat out, try some of our favourites.
Wheres the best place to get:
Fish and Chips - The Lifeboat or Northbay Fisheries, Carols Place on Columbus Ravine is the only place I have found to do Saveloy's
Turkish - AZ Restaurant or Lezzet
Shish Kebab / Burgers - The Cactus
Burger and Chips - The Cowshed
Italian - Giannis, Lanterna, Tricolos
Roast - East Ayton Lodge, The Mayfield or The King Richard III
Breakfast - Bella Rose or Taylors or The Conservatory in town for a unbelievable £4 special
Bit of everything - The Cactus, Taylors or Saltwater
Doner Kebab or Pizza - Hikos Kebab Land
Indian - Too many to choose from - Closest is Nishat Spice Tandoori
Chinese - Again too many to choose from, Wing Hing is the closest and very good value
Please ring any of these places up to book a table they get very busy. Check closing times for any Fish and Chips shops some shut by 7pm or earlier
